This ground-up 3000 square foot house on the southern coast of Rhode Island was designed by DiMauro Architects to fit in with the Rhode Island Coast. But the owners wanted a modern feel inside, so they engaged KTID to design the interior. With the mantra of “Redefine Coastal Living,” we sought finishes, colors and textures that would allow the ocean views to shine and reflect the coastal location without relying on seascape cliches. From the hand-picked fireplace stone to the white-stained wood floors, we worked to create a unique palette and vibe, create interior moments of awe, while still holding the sea in the forefront. We designed and detailed every inch of the interior: a modern, monolithic fireplace and surrounding woodwork; a wood and glass staircase (lighting every tread); a custom kitchen; dramatic bathrooms; custom laundry and mudroom; and a sumptuous master suite. We worked closely with Tracy Glover Studio to fill the home with unique, handblown glass lighting, including the piece de resistance: the stairwell chandelier. In the end, this beautiful home is a perfect example that living on the coast doesn’t mean sacrificing modern luxury.
